BlackSmithSoft Streamlines Document Management with DoCheck, a new integration with Autodesk BIM 360 and Autodesk Docs
AEC offices and jobsites can now scan QR codes to confirm they are working from the latest project documents.
Today, BlackSmithSoft has launched DoCheck for BIM 360® and Autodesk® Docs, a new integration for Autodesk Construction Cloud™. The integration between DoCheck and BIM 360 ensures that when anyone prints documents, they are working with the latest versions.
DoCheck automatically stamps PDF documents with QR-codes, allowing for easy checking of a document’s validity from anywhere. BIM 360 is a widely adopted construction management software in Autodesk Construction Cloud used for digital collaboration. While many firms turn to software to eliminate paper, various project stakeholders may still use paper to review or share drawings, QA/QC forms, print charts/reports, manuals, memos, bulletins, and even health and safety posters which may contain emergency information.
Now, customers can drag and drop PDF sheets or documents into designated folders in BIM 360 or Autodesk Docs, which DoCheck will then automatically stamp with a QR code.
“DoCheck came from our customers’ need to manage the liability of printed documents as they almost always go out of date soon after they come out of the printer,” said Chuck Ferzli, VP of Sales and Marketing, BlackSmithSoft. “Our Autodesk Construction Cloud integration helps our customers ascertain that documents on hand, on the wall, or in a box file, are the latest version project stakeholders are using or have authorized.”
On-site or in the office, anyone can scan the QR code using the camera on their mobile devices. Once scanned, DoCheck advises you if:
- The document scanned is the latest version on BIM 360 or Autodesk Docs.
- The document is outdated, with the option to open the latest in BIM 360 or Autodesk Docs.
- Custom attributes are tied to a document and its history.
- For example, customers can see the status of a printed drawing that may have changed approval stages (e.g., from IFD to IFC).
The DoCheck and Autodesk Construction Cloud integration helps users to:
- Reduce rework that may result from viewing outdated printed documents.
- Improve document management and lessen time spent looking for project information.
- Improve a stakeholder’s experience by adding intelligence to paper.
- Maintain compliance with any document management requirements.
DoCheck is available to try for a limited time and is available on the BIM 360 App store: https://blacksmithsoft.com/services/docheck-for-bim360/
